What You’ll Do:

  • Provide companionship and emotional support to patients and families: This may involve simply being present, listening to their stories and concerns, offering a comforting touch, or engaging in meaningful conversations.
  • Assist with light tasks and errands: Help with grocery shopping, meal preparation, light housekeeping, or running errands can provide much-needed relief to families.
  • Offer respite care: Give family caregivers a break by accompanying the patient while they take some time for themselves.
  • Attend team meetings and training sessions: Stay informed about hospice care and develop your skills as a volunteer.

Who You Are:

  • Compassionate and empathetic: You have a genuine desire to support others during a difficult time.
  • Good listener: You can actively listen to patients and families and understand their needs.
  • Patient and understanding: You can adapt to different situations and respect individual preferences.
  • Reliable and dependable: You can commit to regular visits and follow through on your commitments.
